Patient Confidentiality Statement
Medical providers at Angelo State University cannot share clinical information
with anyone, including parents, without the permission of student patients
aged 18 and older. The exception to this would be if students are in impending
danger or hurting themselves or others, or are incapable of taking care
of themselves. ASU encourages students and parents to maintain open communication
to avoid situations in which parents are worried about the health and
well-being of their children.
A medical record is created when you receive treatment from a medical professional
at Student Health Services (SHS). Each student’s medical record
is the physical property of SHS and must remain in the custody of SHS
staff at all times. Consistent care is exercised by all SHS staff to protect
the privacy and confidentiality of patient health information. Medical
information is not released by any member of the SHS staff without a student’s
consent, unless authorized by law.
Medical disclaimer: Medical information obtained from our website is not intended as a substitute
for professional care. If you have or suspect you have a problem, you
should consult a healthcare provider.
