Stop the Bleed Training

Effective January 2020, every school district in Texas will be required to have a bleeding control kit program with trained personnel in the event of injury to another person.

Shannon Trauma Services is now offering 1-hour, interactive Stop The Bleed training classes to anyone within our service area.

Training Includes

  • Bleeding control by pressure
  • Tourniquet use
  • Application methods
  • Scenarios for use

Bleeding Control Kits

Each facility will receive a bleeding control kit that contains:

  • Tourniquets approved for use in the battlefield trauma care by the armed forces of the United States
  • Chest seals
  • Compression bandages
  • Bleeding control bandages
  • Space emergency blankets
  • Latex-free gloves
  • Markers
  • Scissors
  • Instructional documents developed by the American College of Surgeons or the United States Department of Homeland Security detailing methods to prevent blood loss following a traumatic event

Kits are being furnished by the Concho Valley Regional Advisory Council (CVRAC).

Attendees will be American College of Surgeons Certified Instructors once completing the course.
