As defined by
Johns Hopkins Medicine, hand surgery covers a wide range of procedures that a skilled orthopedic
surgeon can perform in order to restore function in the hands and fingers
after damage has occurred. The hand is made up of an intricate and delicate
network of tendons, muscles, ligaments, skin, and bone. If an injury,
chronic condition, or disease affects any part of this network, it can
greatly impact mobility and function.
Restorative and reconstructive procedures of the hand may be recommended
by a surgeon for many reasons, including, but not limited to:
Injuries
Infections
Arthritic conditions
Congenital defects
Other degenerative diseases that may cause pain or change the structure
of the hand
At Shannon, we strive to deliver precise and minimally invasive surgical
care. That is why our hand surgeons utilize advanced imaging technology
and state-of-the-art surgical procedures. We specialize in the hand procedures
our community depends on most.
