Shannon Oncology Center

The outpatient oncology unit provides oncology services: chemotherapy administration, administration of blood and blood products, short- and long-term monitoring of the patient's response to medications/oncology treatments, and patient/family teaching for referred patients. A patient navigator is available to walk patients through the chemotherapy process and also assist them with their questions. A social worker and dietitian are also available to help patients with different needs.

Oncology services

The Shannon Oncology Center provides a comprehensive continuum of services for cancer care and is accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. To ensure a healing and relaxing atmosphere, the center is equipped with:

  • 13 outpatient chemotherapy chair stations, each equipped with a television.
  • Seven exam rooms.
  • Fully staffed pharmacy.
  • Patient education room.
  • Spacious waiting area with a relaxing water feature.
  • Primary nurses assigned to each patient.
  • Licensed dietitian available to patients.
  • Social worker on staff.

The center has multiple health professionals and experts on staff to ensure exceptional care is delivered to each and every patient.

Patient navigator

The patient navigator, a registered nurse, teaches patients about the type of treatment they will undergo and educates them about their particular disease.
