Shannon Oncology Center

The outpatient oncology unit provides oncology services: chemotherapy administration, administration of blood and blood products, short- and long-term monitoring of the patient's response to medications/oncology treatments, and patient/family teaching for referred patients. A patient navigator is available to walk patients through the chemotherapy process and also assist them with their questions. A social worker and dietitian are also available to help patients with different needs.

Oncology services

The Shannon Oncology Center provides a comprehensive continuum of services for cancer care and is accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. To ensure a healing and relaxing atmosphere, the center is equipped with:

  • 13 outpatient chemotherapy chair stations, each equipped with a television.
  • Seven exam rooms.
  • Fully staffed pharmacy.
  • Patient education room.
  • Spacious waiting area with a relaxing water feature.
  • Primary nurses assigned to each patient.
  • Licensed dietitian available to patients.
  • Social worker on staff.

The center has multiple health professionals and experts on staff to ensure exceptional care is delivered to each and every patient.

Oncology Nurse Navigator

The patient navigator, a registered nurse, who understands and empathizes with your needs and provides patient advocacy to guide and morally support you through your journey. The Oncology Nurse Navigator will:

  • Coordinate seamless multidisciplinary care
  • Be the single point of contact
  • Coordinate referrals for oncology care
  • Help engage services and resources
  • Help understand your personalized plan of care
  • Provide information to make your visits easier
  • Help decrease barriers to care
