Foot and ankle surgery covers a range of different procedures and treatments
performed by a trained orthopedic surgeon that can help reduce pain and
restore function in the foot and ankle after an injury or other damage.
The structure of the foot and ankle includes a series of interconnected
muscles, bones, tendons and ligaments; damage or pain in any of these
areas can greatly impact your mobility and quality of life over time.

Depending on the procedure your surgeon performed, your recovery time will
vary. Your surgeon will provide you with detailed instructions for postoperative
care following your procedure. You may have dressings, bandages or splints
around the surgery site for a period of time, or you may need to limit
your physical activity early in the healing process. Your doctor will
let you know how long these limitations last. Other recovery instructions
may include:
Additional inpatient treatment
Topical or oral prescription medications for pain relief/healing
Directions for changing any dressings or bandages
Follow-up appointments to remove any stitches after the site has healed
