Pediatric Urgent Care
We try our very best to accommodate our patients when they are not feeling
well, but sometimes during peak illness seasons we cannot see everyone
on the same day. Our Pediatric Urgent Care Clinic, located inside the
downtown Shannon Pediatrics Clinic, provides exceptional care for minor
medical needs when you are unable to see your regular pediatrician. Patients
may be seen by appointment or on a walk-in basis.

Common Newborn Questions
Below are general questions we routinely receive from our patients and
parents. Your child's health is important, and we encourage you to contact
your pediatrician's office if you have any concerns.
When Do I Need to Make an Appointment for My Newborn?
Most newborns need to be seen by their pediatrician several days after
discharge from the hospital. Please contact our office to set up an appointment
with a pediatrician.
Is it Normal for a Newborn Baby to Lose Weight? If So, How Much Is Too Much?
After birth, it is expected for a newborn baby to lose some weight, as
nearly all infants experience early weight loss in the first 5 to 7 days.
5 percent weight loss is considered normal for formula-fed babies, and
7 to 10 percent weight loss is normal for breast-fed babies. Most babies
should regain this lost weight within 10 to 14 days of age. If you have
further concerns, you should contact your pediatrician's office.
What Is the Recommended Vaccination Schedule?
Our clinic generally follows the vaccination schedule recommended by the
American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention.
