Safe Kids, All Summer Long

Safe Kids, All Summer Long

Safe Kids is a worldwide nonprofit organization dedicated to educating children and their families on ways to prevent traffic injuries, drownings, falls, burns, poisonings, and more. Safe Kids San Angelo at Shannon works within our community by providing dedicated and caring staff, operational support, education and other resources to keep kids safe from preventable injuries.

On Tuesday, June 9, Safe Kids San Angelo hosted the annual Summer Safety Event at the Goodfellow Recreation Camp on Lake Nasworthy, which provided San Angelo area families a chance to learn more about staying safe and preventing childhood injuries during the summer months.

Through Shannon, Safe Kids San Angelo fitted over 163 life jackets to kids in our community. In addition to life jacket fittings, families and caretakers were able to learn about hands-only CPR, proper hydration, boating and ATV safety, drowning prevention, Stop The Bleed, gun safety, drunk driving, first aid and outdoor injuries like falls, cuts and snake bites.

Special thanks to the Texas Department of Public Safety, San Angelo Fire Department, Family Shelter, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Air Force ODR, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, Children’s Advocacy Center of Greater West Texas, Family Powersports, San Angelo Food Bank, Texas Department of Transportation, Concho Valley Regional Advisory Council, Kona Ice, Texas A&M AgriLife Disaster Assessment and Recovery and Watch Your BAC, and Shannon AirMed for making this year’s Summer Safety Event a success.
