Shannon Hosts Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic
Shannon will host a drive-thru flu shot clinic from Wednesday, October 14 to Friday, October 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day. The clinic will be held at Shannon Clinic Sunset at 4235 Southwest Boulevard (Sunset Mall parking lot).
The flu shot clinic is open to patients ages six months and older; families are welcome and encouraged to come together to receive the flu vaccine. No appointment is necessary. Patients are asked to bring their insurance card, as Shannon Health will accept and file with insurance. If not charged to insurance, the discounted cash price will be $45. High-dose or Flublok vaccine will be $90.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend receiving a yearly flu shot as soon as it’s available in your community. Vaccination before December ensures that protective antibodies are in place before flu activity is typically at its highest.
The flu shot is an inactivated vaccine that contains killed virus and is given with a needle, usually in the arm. Flu vaccines stimulate the body to develop antibodies that protect against influenza virus infection. The flu shot is approved for people ages 6 months or older, including healthy people as well as those with chronic medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes or heart disease.
