for congestive and degenerative conditions of the heart and vascular system

Our offices are located adjacent to the hospital and other Shannon facilities.
All diagnostic and treatment procedures can be performed within our medical
campus without having to travel to different cities or even across town.

Regular office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. To schedule
an appointment for your patient, please call our office at

When referring a patient, any pertinent medical information, including
history and physical exams, is appreciated. This information can be faxed
to our office at 325.481.2211 or you may send it with the patient. We
will coordinate any other specialist referrals with you, if preferred,
and during our post-op visits instruct the patients to return to your
office for follow-up care. Our physicians are available to you at any
time. In the case of an emergency, call the Medical Exchange at
325.655.3142. Unless a specific request is made for one of our surgeons, the case will
be handled promptly by the first available surgeon in the group.

Practice History
Shannon's Thoracic and Cardiovascular Department has been providing state-of-the-art
diagnostic and surgical procedures of the heart, lung, chest, and major
blood vessels for over 20 years. Shannon physicians have performed many
medical firsts in the Concho Valley. San Angelo thoracic and cardiovascular
surgeons at Shannon performed the first coronary artery bypass graft surgery
in 1988, the first valve replacement in 1989, the first off-pump coronary
artery bypass surgery in 2000, and the first endoluminal replacement of
thoracic aortic aneurysm in 2011. In 2012, the first video-assisted thorascopic
lung lobectomy for cancer was performed.
While most of our services continue to involve coronary artery bypass surgery,
valve replacement and repair, and aortic surgery, we pride ourselves on
the care of the whole patient and their family. The surgeons continue
their pioneering spirit by exploring and providing innovative techniques
to better care for the people of the Concho Valley.
