OB Hospitalist Group (OBHG) to provide you with 24/7 access to experienced,
Board Certified OB/GYN physicians right here at Shannon Women’s
& Children’s Hospital.
These highly trained OB hospitalists are on-site every day of the year
to provide immediate care whenever you or your baby need it—whether
for a routine concern, delivery, or an emergency.
Partnering with Your OB/GYN for Seamless Care
OB hospitalists are dedicated to caring for expectant mothers during their
hospital stay, especially if their personal OB/GYN is unavailable or delayed.
Based full-time on our Labor & Delivery Unit, they work closely with
your regular doctor—not as a replacement, but as an extension of
your care team.
If your physician is unable to be present, the OB hospitalist will carefully
review your medical history and birth plan to honor your delivery preferences
as your condition allows. After your care, they’ll provide a complete
report to your OB/GYN to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of care.
24/7 Emergency OB Care
Shannon’s dedicated Obstetric Emergency Department (OBED) is open
24/7 and located on the 2nd floor of the Shannon Women’s & Children’s
Hospital within the Labor & Delivery Unit. If you experience a pregnancy-related
emergency or need urgent care outside of office hours, you can come directly
to the OBED to be seen by an experienced OB hospitalist—no appointment needed.
