Ye Kyung Song, MD,Ph.D.

Primary Specialty: Psychiatry

About Dr. Kyung Song

Dr. Ye Kyung Song completed her undergraduate degree in biochemistry at the University of Houston and went on to earn her MD and PhD in Medical Humanities at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where her doctoral work focused on clinical ethics and social medicine. She completed her psychiatry residency at Duke University, pursuing focused training in medical teaching and continuing her ethics scholarship through work at the Trent Center.

Dr. Song is board certified in psychiatry and has experience caring for patients in inpatient and outpatient settings. Before joining Shannon, she served as faculty at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, supervising residents and medical students on a core clinical rotation and providing supervision in therapy skills for resident physicians. Drawing on her training at the intersection of medicine and the humanities, she looks forward to building a program rooted in the Concho Valley, training psychiatrists who are clinically excellent, who see the whole person, and who will be genuinely a part of the places they serve.

We are excited to welcome Dr. Song as Program Director of the Shannon Psychiatry Residency.
