About Dr. Chappa
Shannon is excited to welcome home San Angelo native Dr. John Chappa, Shannon’s first and only fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee adult reconstruction.
Dr. Chappa earned his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Angelo State University before completing his Master’s in Medical Science at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society distinction. He then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, followed by a fellowship in adult reconstruction at Ortho San Antonio.
As Shannon’s first and only fellowship-trained adult reconstruction orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Chappa specializes in primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery. He utilizes the latest minimally invasive, muscle-sparing, robotic-assisted, and traditional surgical techniques to provide personalized care and help patients return to the activities they enjoy.
Dr. Chappa brings advanced expertise in complex hip and knee replacement procedures, expanding access to specialized orthopedic care close to home for the Concho Valley and surrounding communities.
