PLASTIC SURGERY – BODY SERVICES
At Shannon, we offer a variety of plastic surgery treatments designed to create a look you’ll love. Our body-specific treatments like tummy tucks, liposuction, lifts and augmentation can be tailored to address your concerns for the abdomen, arms and legs.
Tummy Tuck
Abdominoplasty (known as a “tummy tuck”) is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin or soft tissue and tighten muscles to change the appearance of the abdomen. Tummy tucks can create the look of a more toned abdomen and narrowed waistline after significant weight loss or pregnancy. In some cases, patients may be candidates for liposuction (fat removal) in addition to a tummy tuck.
If you have excess skin below the navel (belly button) or a bulge in the midline of the abdomen, you may be a candidate for a tummy tuck. You may not qualify if you plan to lose a significant amount of weight, are planning to become pregnant in the future, have a serious long-term condition, are overweight or have had abdominal surgery previously.
Liposuction
Lipoplasty (liposuction) removes excess fat to improve the appearance of targeted areas of the body. This procedure removes fat from the body through suction and is popular with patients who want to achieve slimmer and more proportionate body shape. Liposuction can reduce fat deposits in the following areas:
- Abdomen/waist
- Back
- Calves/ankles
- Chest
- Face, cheeks, chin, neck
- Hips/buttocks
- Inner knees
- Thighs
- Upper arms
Liposuction is often performed alongside other cosmetic procedures, like facelifts, breast reductions or tummy tucks. This procedure is not designed to treat obesity or cellulite.
Arm Lifts
Brachioplasty (arm lift) surgery enhances the look of the bicep area by removing excess skin and soft tissue. Arm lifts can reduce the look of drooping or sagging upper arms (or “bat wings”) due to aging, weight fluctuations or genetics. If you have decreased elasticity in the skin of your arms, lost a noticeable amount of weight or have lymphedema, you may be a candidate for an arm lift. Arm lift surgery is not intended to replace weight loss through diet and exercise.
Thigh Lifts
Thighplasty (thigh lift) is another surgery designed to improve the appearance of the thigh and leg above the knee. During a thigh lift, the surgeon removes excess skin and/or fat and other tissue, which creates a more defined, slimmer-looking upper leg area. Thigh lifts can be helpful for patients who have experienced substantial weight loss or deal with specific concerns like cellulite, chafing and staffing skin on the legs. This procedure is not intended to replace weight loss through diet and exercise.
Lower Body Lift
A lower body lift can be the solution to address the abdomen, hip and back areas in one surgical procedure. This specific combination of procedures can help correct the excess skin and tissue of the abdomen, back and hip areas that can result after a significant weight loss by providing 360 degrees of surgical treatment. A lower body lift can be utilized to help target multiple areas of concern and help prevent the need for multiple surgeries and recoveries.
Similar to a tummy tuck, suction assisted liposuction may be performed at the time of a lower body lift, and some patients may not be candidates this surgery if there is still expected significant weight loss, are planning to become pregnant in the near future, or have a serious long-term medical condition.
Gluteal (Buttock) Augmentation
Buttock augmentation with fat grafting (also known as a Brazilian butt lift) is a procedure that reshapes the buttocks and lower abdomen area, using fat taken from other areas of the body. This results in the appearance of rounder buttocks, a narrower waist and less visible fat deposits across the torso.
With fat grafting, fat deposits are removed from the abdomen, back, hips, arms or thighs using liposuction and chemically clarified. Then, the grafted fat is placed between the skin and the muscle of the buttocks to create the desired shape.
A buttock augmentation or BBL can be the ultimate solution to removing fat from the areas a patient doesn’t want to enhance the shape and appearance of the buttocks and hips. This procedure can help you reach that desired look of the buttock area that you haven’t been able to achieve.
Calf Augmentation
Calf augmentation surgery utilizes implants or fat grafting to increase the size of the patient’s calves in the lower leg. Through a small incision behind the knee, the surgeon places a silicone rubber insert along the calf muscles to even the proportions of the legs in relation to the thighs or the rest of the body. This procedure is designed to add bulk to the back of the lower legs and “even out” the look of the leg muscles.
Fat grafting, removing fat deposits from other areas of the body and then placing them in the calf area can also be used to increase the size of the calf area. Fat grafting can also be combined with implant placement for the desired size and effect you want. This procedure can help you regain confidence to show off those lower legs.
Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty is the surgical process of changing the size of the labia (external folds of skin around the vaginal opening). Patients may choose labiaplasty to reduce or increase the size of the labia for a variety of medical or cosmetic reasons. This can be done by removing tissue from the labia to reduce its size, injecting fat or other filler material to enlarge the labia, or reconstructing the labia from other tissue.
