The service area of Shannon Home Health Services includes areas within a 30-mile radius of San Angelo. The service area includes Tom Green County and portions of Sterling, Coke, Runnels, Concho, Schleicher and Irion counties. Shannon Home Health Services is Medicare certified and has been recognized multiple years as one of the HomeCare Elite. The qualifications for this recognition include services of quality of care, quality improvement and financial performance.
Home care services
Shannon Home Health Services provides comprehensive healthcare services to individuals in their homes by highly qualified and compassionate professionals.
Some examples of services offered are:
- Medication management and instruction.
- Care of wounds.
- Insertion and care of urinary catheters.
- Injections.
- Nursing care and instruction for intravenous therapy, antibiotics and enteral feedings.
- Diabetic management and instruction.
- Ostomy care.
- Venipunctures for lab work.
- Care of patients with respiratory conditions.
- Postsurgical care.
Physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy provide instruction in ambulation, transfers, activities of daily living adaptions and exercise techniques for orthopedic and neurologic conditions. They also make recommendations concerning equipment needed in the care of the patient.
Home health aide services are planned and supervised by a registered nurse and specified in a care plan. Home health aides work with patients to help achieve greater independence in the activities of daily living and provide hands-on personal care. Examples of personal care are bathing, dressing and skin care.
Qualification for care
To qualify for Home Health Services, you must be under the care of a licensed physician and you must be homebound (this is a Medicare requirement). You must also have a need for skilled service, such as nursing or physical therapy.
Home care is paid for by Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance or self-pay.

To apply for home care service, you can either contact your physician directly or call Shannon Home Health Services at 325.747.7480. If you are presently hospitalized, ask your case manager for more information.
The Shannon Home Health Services office is open Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registered nurses are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for non-emergency care.
