Sharlet Slough, DO

About Provider Slough

Dr. Slough became interested in medicine as a young child growing up in Gruver, Texas, which is a rural town 100 miles north of Amarillo, Texas. She enjoyed science classes and volunteering with her family physician in Guymon, Oklahoma throughout high school and college. She sought a career where she could make a difference in the lives of others and her community. Dr. Slough has spent her career practicing inpatient and outpatient medicine in rural areas both in Texas and Tennessee.

Her primary goal is to be a partner with each patient to become healthy and stay healthy. Dr. Slough sees each patient as a whole and strives to understand all the factors that affect their health by taking the time to actively listen. She wants her patients to understand their health and actively participate in their well-being.

Having grown up in a rural area, Dr. Slough was drawn to Shannon’s and Texas A&M’s mission to teach the next generation of internists to serve rural Texas, especially the people of West Texas and the Concho Valley. She wants to teach younger physicians to not only strive to provide the most modern care for their patients but to also see each patient as a whole person.

Her special interests are medical education, business of medicine, quality improvement initiatives, POCUS and procedures (SIM Lab), critical care and hospital medicine.

Outside of work, Dr. Slough enjoys hiking, RV camping, and crocheting/knitting, and is an avid supporter of the Texas A&M Aggies and Tennessee Vols in all sports, especially football and women’s basketball.
