About Provider Wood

Dr Wood grew up in South Florida and became interested in medicine after seeing the interactions his mother, who was chronically ill, had with the healthcare system.

After attending Duke University, he pursued his medical degree from the Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston Salem, NC. He then attended UT Southwestern in Dallas, TX for his internal medicine internship and residency, before joining Shannon Health in 2016.

At Shannon, Dr. Wood has held various roles, including as a hospitalist physician, medical director of the hospitalist group, and most recently, as Chief Medical Officer of Shannon Medical Center, Shannon’s flagship facility, with 400 staffed beds. At Shannon, Dr. Wood is responsible for overseeing patient safety, quality, and is passionate about developing physician culture in the growing medical staff community.

He is committed to training the next generation of physicians to be clinically exceptional, empathetic leaders.

Outside of work, his interests include playing piano, running, learning to fly, and spending time with his family.
