Shannon has received multiple awards from the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association for reaching and maintaining high standards of care for stroke, heart attack, heart failure and diabetes patients.
“These awards show that we prioritize cardiac patients and the care they receive at Shannon,” said Rudy Haddad, MD, Shannon Clinic Interventional Cardiologist. “The feedback we get from the ACC and the AHA helps us maintain a nationally recognized standard of care for our patients here in the Concho Valley. Our team is dedicated to quality care at every level, including for our cardiac patients, and we’re proud to receive the recognition.”
Shannon received the NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award from the American College of Cardiology for the fourth consecutive year. Shannon is one of only 323 hospitals nationwide to receive this honor in 2025.
To receive this award, Shannon demonstrated sustained achievement in the Chest Pain ̶ MI Registry for two consecutive years and performed at the highest level for specific performance measures. This shows Shannon’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that Shannon has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.
Shannon was one of only 158 hospitals nationwide to receive the Commitment to Quality Award from the American Heart Association. This is the first year for this special award level, which signifies Shannon has committed to quality improvement through guideline-direct care in stroke and cardiovascular care by earning “silver” or higher awards across three or more AHA Get With The Guidelines®. By using real-time data registries, evidence-based protocols and cross-disciplinary teamwork, Shannon continues to raise the standard of care across multiple specialties, alongside cardiac care.
Shannon also received the following awards from the American Heart Association:
- Get With The Guidelines® - Coronary Artery Disease STEMI Receiving Center – GOLD PLUS with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll (second consecutive year)
- Get With The Guidelines® - Coronary Artery Disease NSTEMI – GOLD with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll
- Get With The Guidelines® - Heart Failure GOLD PLUS with Target: Heart Failure Optimal and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll
- Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke GOLD PLUS with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll
- West Texas Mission: Lifeline® Regional Report – Mission: Lifeline® Regional Award
As a participant in AHA’s Get With The Guidelines® and Mission: Lifeline® programs, Shannon qualified for these awards by demonstrating a commitment to quality care by following the latest evidence-based treatment guidelines for heart disease and stroke, ultimately leading to shorter recovery times and fewer readmissions to the hospital.
