Shannon Medical Center has two cancer support groups to help you on your journey.
Cancer affects not only those diagnosed, but their loved ones as well. Education and support are essential parts of cancer care for patients, families and friends. This is why Shannon Medical Center established its cancer support groups. The Survivor Sisters, a support group for all breast cancer survivors and their friends and family, began meeting in 2009. The group meets at the Shannon Cancer Empowerment & Resource Center on the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
Cancer Warriors, a cancer support group for men, is open to all men in the community going through cancer treatment or supporting a family member or friend with cancer. The meetings provide an opportunity to share information and ask questions about cancer-related topics. The group meets monthly.
There is no cost to attend the meetings. Both groups are hosted by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas and the Shannon Cancer Empowerment & Resource Center. For more information, call 325-481-2065.
