More space to serve you better

The Brain and Spine Institute offers a full range of neurosurgical services.

The Brain & Spine Institute at Shannon provides neurosurgical services to patients of all ages. With 18 exam rooms, the newly expanded space allows our professionals to provide exceptional care while offering the most advanced services.

Shannon neurosurgical services are managed by three neurosurgeons: Sabino D’Agostino, DO; Luis E. Duarte, MD, board-certified in neurological surgery; and Timothy Hopkins, MD, board-certified in neurological surgery. Three midlevel professionals also provide services at the Brain & Spine Institute.

The Brain and Spine Institute offers a full range of neurosurgical services. Shannon neurosurgeons treat conditions of the brain, spine and nerves. Examples of surgeries performed include:

  • Computer navigation-assisted surgery for brain tumors.
  • Spinal surgery, including microsurgery and open, minimally invasive techniques.
  • Minimally invasive endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery.

They also provide a wide variety of implants for chronic pain and mobility problems, including dorsal column stimulation for chronic pain, vagus nerve stimulation for seizures, and deep brain implants for tremor and Parkinson’s disease.

Pain-control injections, including nerve blocks and epidural steroid injections, are performed in the office, sparing patients a separate visit to the hospital.

Shannon neurosurgeons also travel throughout the region for monthly clinics in Big Spring, Brady, Brownwood, Coleman, Colorado City, Del Rio, Midland, Sonora and Sweetwater.

The Brain & Spine Institute is located in the Shannon Medical Plaza at 102 N. Magdalen St. To learn more or to make an appointment, call 325-481-2193.
